Mahamrityunjaya Temple, Mandi Town
There is stone image of
Mahamrityunjaya near the old Bus Stand. The image of Shiva with his
third eye and the lotus pose is in meditative contemplation. The four
arms of Shiva with usual symbols and right lower hand in ‘Bhumisparsha
Mudra’, lower left hand is holding ‘Kamandal’, right upper hand raised
in benediction and upper left hand holding ‘Amritkalash’ - all create
the mystique of the rare charm and beauty of Mahamrityunjaya Shiva. The
eyes, the nose, high forehead, subdued smile on the lips, wearing the
garland of skulls- all make this image so impressive and captivating.
The temple now has been renovated and made more prominent.
