Chhinja Scene In Sundernagar

In mediaeval and olden times of arstwhile princely States of Suket and Mandi there used to be wrestling bouts by way of entertainment as modern electronic entertainment was known in those days. The same tradition continues and local and outside wrestles participate in the wrestling bouts popularly called 'Chhinja' in the dialect.. The visitors surround the match venue and the people get perched on vantage points on the surrounding hillocks. The photographer has masterly captured this moment of pleasure and amusement of the unsophisticated spectators in this 'Chhinja'. With lack of patronage of the Rajas these 'Chhinjas' need help and boost from State and people.
