Rewalsar Lake, Mandi

Riwalsar is an important pilgrimage centre for Budhhistic Lamaistic devotees paying their obeisance to Guru Rimpoche Padmasambhava. The embankments on the lake have now been repaired and ghats renovated and pedestrian paths reconstructed along with plantation of trees on its banks. The lake once had floating islands and these could be seen floating on its waters. The lake contains all sorts of fish, big and small,. Moreover here is the temple dedicated to Lomas Rishi (seer), a big shaiva temple in 'shikhar' style and a Gurudwara dedicated to the tenth Guru Gobind Singh ji. The monasteries, township, tree grooves, Naina Devi at the hill-top and other six 'sars' (lakes) remind us that it is very old religious pl ace that has been venrated since olden times.
