Kullu Dussehra

Kullu Dussehra is presently called as 'International Folk Dance Festival'. On Vijaya Dashmi Day idol of Raghunath ji is brought in a chariot from the palace of Rupi rajas to Dhalpur. After the religious 'puja' (worship) ceremonies the ropes of the chariot are pulled by thousands of devotees and this chariot stays for a week in the middle of ground of Dhalpur.

The deities from far and near on their chariots along with 'pahari' orchestra and devotees converge here. The people dressed in their colourful and traditonal dresses lend charm and colour to this international fair of folk dance and other coloural programmes. It is the continuation of old religius traditions of erstwhile Kullu Princely State.
